How to Read Your Water Bill

As Residents of Montgomery County Municipal Utility District No. 42 (MCMUD 42), the District wants to better serve you by helping you understand and read your monthly water bill. MCMUD 42 currently engages with Hays Utility North for water operations and services. In partnership with Hays Utility North, it is the District’s goal to bring all our residents a clear and accurate understanding of resident’s water usage and bill.

There are eleven information components displayed on your monthly water bill:

  1. Remittance information
  2. Billing period
  3. Date the bill was generated
  4. Historic usage graph
  5. Detail of service charges and activity
    a) Water: Water usage cost
    b) Sewer: Sewer usage cost
    c) TCEQ: Pass through fee for Texas Commission on Environmental Quality
    d) SJRA Fee: San Jacinto River Authority Fee for water usage
    e) LSGWC: Lone Star Groundwater Conservation Fee
  6. Total balance due
  7. Amount that must be paid after the due date
  8. District information
  9. Account number, service address and electronic box number
  10. Date the payment must be received before the account is past due
  11. Amount due before the account is late
